Winter season 2024/25 with new record figures

The Austrian ropeway industry can look back on a very successful winter:

  • With 51.8 million first-time admissions (ski guests who go through a turnstile to the cable car for the first time in one day) and 554 million winter sports enthusiasts transported, the ski resorts are back at the top level of the pre-corona period. (WKO, Austrian Cable Car Association, winter season 2024/25, as of September 25)
  • The winter tourism season recorded a new record of 20.6 million guests. Around 2/3 of winter guests came from Germany, Austria and the Netherlands, with a further 14% from the Czech Republic, Switzerland, the UK, Italy, Poland and Hungary. By far the largest non-European group of guests came from the USA. (Statistics Austria, Arrivals in the 2024/25 winter season, 12.06.25)
  • Skiing is popular:
    Over 2/3 of winter visitors come to Austria to ski, over ¼ of whom are children and young people on skiing vacations with their families.
    2.96 million Austrians between the ages of 6 and 80 (approx. 1/3) go skiing, with around 50% of 14 to 35-year-olds doing so. (WKO, Cable Car Association, winter season 2024/25 and MANOVA ski potential analysis, as of February 25)
