A trusted reference work for over four decades
Ensuring the safety of guests on ski slopes and ski trails is one of the core responsibilities of every ski lift operator. In 1980, sitour first published the guide “Safety Obligations for Ski Runs” in collaboration with Dr. Helmut Lamprecht, a court-certified expert in alpine skiing .
Since then, the handbook has served as a reliable guide and valuable, practical resource in day-to-day operations for executives and operations managers of ropeway companies, as well as for those responsible for slope maintenance and rescue services. It answers fundamental questions regarding legal obligations and necessary safety measures in both organized and off-piste skiing areas. These primarily concern ski slopes and trails, freeride runs, race courses, fun parks, toboggan runs, backcountry skiers, and artificial snowmaking, as well as rules of conduct for snow sports.
Updated new edition now available from sitour
In the summer of 2026, Dr. Helmut Lamprecht, in collaboration with sitour, comprehensively revised and updated the guide for ski slope and rescue services titled “Safety Obligations for Ski Runs.” The 5th edition is once again published by sitour and is available now.
Interested ski lift companies can order the current handbook directly through their personal sitour cable cars consultant or by emailing office@sitour.at.
