With two new Panorama Info Systems from sitour, the Rofan Cable Car is modernizing its guest information services. At the valley station, the information system is mounted on the wall; at the mountain station, it is a freestanding structure on a central support. Both panoramic information displays combine large-format panoramic maps on stretched fabric with LED status displays behind them and 75-inch digital screens in portrait orientation. This gives guests the best possible overview of the area, current operational information, and the diverse range of recreational facilities—both in the valley and directly on the mountain.
Custom Panoramic Maps for Summer and Winter
At the heart of the new panoramic information displays is a summer panoramic map newly hand-painted for the Rofan. It deliberately does not depict the mountain landscape in a photorealistic manner but instead specifically highlights key landmarks. This allows guests to identify cable cars, hiking and climbing trails, and prominent landmarks at a glance, making it easier to grasp distances and spatial relationships. The winter panoramic map was also created by sitour based on the summer panorama. It provides clear information about ski lifts, ski runs, ski routes, winter hiking trails, and ski huts.
Easily interchangeable panoramas offer flexibility
A key advantage of the new panoramic information systems lies in their flexible customization. The panoramas are printed on a tensioned fabric that can be quickly and easily replaced by a cable car employee when switching between the summer and winter seasons.
Changes in the area —such as new lifts, slopes, trails, or other infrastructure—can also be integrated into the respective panoramic map. A new stretched canvas is then printed and replaced, while the rest of the panoramic information display remains unchanged.
Adjustable LED displays and digital screens for up-to-date information
The LED status displays behind the panoramic banner also offer greater flexibility, as they can be individually positioned thanks to magnetic mounts. If the information displayed changes, the LED spots can simply be moved to new positions and then show the current status within the panorama.
In addition, two portrait-oriented 75-inch screens enable continuously updated communication with guests. Information about the area, cable car and slope operations, weather, or events can be flexibly displayed in real time and independently of the panoramic map.
The Rofan Cable Car is committed to modern guest information
“With the redesign of our panoramic information boards, we are taking another step toward improving guest information at Rofan. Our goal is to make navigation simple and easy to understand and to offer our guests the best possible overview of what the mountain has to offer in every season. The new solution combines high-quality visuals with modern, flexible information,” explains Arthur Moser, CEO of Rofan Seilbahn AG.
With this project, sitour demonstrates how hand-painted panoramic maps, flexible LED technology, and digital screens can be combined into a modern information and orientation system.
